Responsibilities

The U.S. Secret Service is seeking retired (CSRS/FERS) individuals to support our integrated mission and immediately impart their knowledge and experience to the current workforce. If re-employed under a Dual Compensation Hiring Authority with an OPM approved salary off-set waiver granted to the Secret Service, annuitants are able to earn their full salary and their full annuity without penalty.

The selectee will serve as a Polygraph Examining Investigator in the Office of Investigations, Forensic Services Division. Typical work assignments include:

• Conducting pre-polygraph examinations and analyzing data collected to determine the results of the polygraph examinations. Developing and/or adapting polygraph techniques to the situation and preparing accurate, concise, logical and objective reports of investigations.
• Analyzing, identifying and administering polygraph examinations by selecting the appropriate testing techniques on the basis of a thorough review and analysis of all available documentation.
• Conducting pretest interviews of individuals to be examined to determine their willingness to submit to the examination.
• Evaluating suitability for testing and making final determinations on whether or not to conduct the examination.
• Representing the Secret Service at various levels of government regarding pre-employment polygraph matters, presenting briefings orally, and preparing written reports on polygraph findings.

Qualifications

Basic Qualification:

You must demonstrate at least one (1) year of the defined Specialized Experience and meet the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR).

Specialized Experience

GS-13: You qualify for the GS-13 level (starting salary of $102,663) if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level preforming duties such as: conducting pre-employment activities; providing guidance on pre-employment polygraph examinations; determining pre-employment polygraph countermeasures and their use; evaluating, analyzing, and providing guidance and information on testing methodologies and the effectiveness of pre-employment polygraph examination programs.
