Be our next Senior Linux System Administrator working in Bethesda, MD to help us provide technical systems administration, configuration, and troubleshooting in support of an on-premise government system, to include system testing, system setup, installation, configuration, support and maintenance, including associated hardware in Bethesda, MD. Work on new system updates, as well as support on current systems by tuning performance, allocating storage space, and implementing critical system patches working with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and analysts leading the integration and deployment of the National Media Exploitation center (NMEC) DOMEX Data Discovery Platform (D3P) for a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) network." The fun stuff you will be doing is working closely with other infrastructure and network engineers, system engineers and O&M team members on the following key tasks: - Responsible for setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software, validating and implementing critical system patches, and allocating mass storage space for physical and virtual Linux server and workstation platform. - Handle creation, scheduled backups, optimization, troubleshooting and correcting issues pertaining to Baremetal servers, Storage, Compute, Virtual Servers and workstations on the network. - Handle networking support, administration, overall strategy, design, implementation, and operational aspects of multiple servers, VMs and workstation-based systems and related forensic software. - Schedules, plans, and oversees system upgrades. - Possess the ability to create baseline images of both Linux based Remote Desktop Clients and workstations. - Develops functional interaction with end-users and coordinates with development team on systematic enhancements or changes. - Perform fault isolation and diagnostic/assessment functions to include determination and execution of corrective action(s) on real-time basis. - Ability to create working scripts to assist in the maintenance of both servers, VMs and workstations to include automation of processes. - Assist in planning for upgrades and replacements for the program assets reaching the end of their life cycle. - Supports asset acquisition, installation, configuration, and maintenance. - Perform administrative level installation, configuration, and maintenance on all components/assets associated with the program. - Integrate and support user-facing elements into applications environment. - Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies. - Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary. - Identify and execute process improvements and other enhancements that improve operational efficiency. This is you: - Bachelor's degree and 8 years' relevant experience, or Master's degree and 6 years of relevant experience or 4 additional years of experience in lieu of degree - Must have Top Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI with Polygraph - 8 years of experience with Linux OS - 8 years of experience in an operations role - 4 years of patching servers, backups, permission management - 8 years' experience providing Tier II & III Linux support - Familiar with Linux Red Hat and Centos environment - Familiarization with data archive and backup processes within Red Hat Linux and Centos networks - Familiarization with SQL, SCCM and ePO servers - Familiarization with VMware environment including vCenter, VDIs and vSANs configuration - Must be able to obtain within 6 months of hire your DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification - CompTIA Security+ You will wow us even more if you have these skills: - Familiar with Horizon for Linux - Familiar with a programming language and Docker containers - Familiar with JIRA and Confluence - DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification - CompTIA Security+ D3P External Referral Eligible LInC External Referral Bonus: Eligible Potential for Telework: No Clearance Level Required: Top Secret Travel: Yes, 10% of the time Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Shift: Day Requisition Category: Professional Job Family: Systems Administration Leidos is a Fortune 500 (R) information technology, engineering, and science solutions and services leader working to solve the world's toughest challenges in the defense, intelligence, homeland security, civil, and health markets.
