Supporting the Most Exciting and Meaningful Missions in the World Field Engineer The customer s mission includes deploying COTS hardware and GOTS software to foreign nations. As part of this mission, Field Engineer (FE) personnel: 1) conduct site surveys, 2) create bills of material (BOMs) for the equipment required as a result of the site survey, 3) demonstrate Linux, Windows, and database skills required to install and configure the system, 4) deploy overseas (often for 60+ days) to install and configure the system across a wide-area network, 5) troubleshoot hardware, software, biometric peripherals, and database issues. When not deployed, the FE s prepare for their next assigned trip, keep up to date on the next GOTS release, and support the program help desk by resolving issues raised by technicians where the system is deployed. Field Engineering Responsibilities: Perform a variety of maintenance and technical support for equipment, integrated systems, subsystems and software at customer and/or field locations. Accountable for timely and accurate development of Bill of Materials (BOM) for each trip. Analyzes and evaluates products and related performance. Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions to eliminate problems in minimum time. Maintain effective Customer Communications. Provide onsite training for Customer support personnel. When not deployed, collaborate with Help Desk lead to resolve requests from host nation technicians (HNT). Basic Qualifications: Requires a Bachelor s degree and 4+ years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2+ years of prior relevant experience; additional years of related work experience required in lieu of a degree. Possess strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, organizational, and verbal/written communication skills. Proficient Linux, Windows and database skills; Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (ie, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project and Outlook). Ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, biometric peripherals and database issues A minimum of 50% OCONUS travel Ability to thrive in a fast paced, mission environment.
