Principal Associate, Consumer Marketing Strategist

Job Summary :

This position is an exciting Principal Associate, Marketing Specialist within the Retail & Direct Bank of Capital One. This role, within the Consumer Bank Marketing team, will play a key role in the development and execution of customer communications and marketing materials, specifically focusing on delivering campaign objectives and creative assets. This role will also be responsible for the delivery process, well-managed documentation and project management of our marketing efforts.

This role will be part of a larger cross-functional team working in an agile environment to bring customer-facing messages to market in our main channels, such as email, online banking, web, paid digital and more. We are looking for an individual who can also function well above and beyond a traditional Marketing Specialist role. The Specialist will have the opportunity to step into a Business Strategist/Product Owner mindset in order to help the larger team deliver on critical marketing activities, driving positive impact to our customers and helping grow our business on a daily basis. This role is perfect for someone who has demonstrated skills in modern marketing strategy development, understanding of marketing technology and platforms, attention to detail, sound decision making, and presentation skills. This role best suited for someone with a growth mindset and a can-do attitude.

Additionally, the Specialist will work closely with our design, tech, legal and risk partners to ensure error-free launch and edits of our marketing plans. They will utilize marketing technology tools such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud to help deliver final marketing products. They will also maintain accuracy and timely approvals of always-on marketing assets, ensuring excellence in quality of customer facing content. Finally, they will keep the manager and their team members informed of project status and any issues that may impact the schedule.

The ideal candidate will have:
  • An understanding of direct marketing channels and digital campaign execution with focus on customer onboarding, engagement, retention, or loyalty programs
  • A baseline understanding of marketing technology tools such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Email and creative optimization platforms, Measurement and analytic tools
  • Strong multi-tasking, organizational skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • High level understanding of Digital Marketing channels such as PPC, Programmatic, Social, Email and SEO
  • Familiarity with Adtech platforms or prior project management experience of Adtech solutions
  • Excellent communication and partnership skills, which are essential for interacting and communicating with team members and key stakeholders at all levels to manage, inform and influence outcomes
  • Collaboration with creative developers and ushering assets through Legal, Compliance and other partners as needed for approvals
  • Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities


Basic Qualifications :
  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience
  • At least 4 years of marketing experience


Preferred Qualifications :
  • Masters or MBA degree
  • 6+ years of marketing experience in a marketing department or agency environment
  • Strong problem solving, project management and influencing skills
  • 1+ years of experience achieving results with complex projects
