Responsibilities

Responsible for the efficient operation of the Firearms / Tactical Gear department within the retail exchange operation. Maintains store records and files such as daily preparation of accounting records; operational and inventory reports or other reports as required by federal, state, and MCCS / DOD policy. Makes appropriate entries in ATF bound book, logging in required items during receipt / disposition of weapons. Conducts weekly count of on-site weapons and compares totals to bound book count to ensure accurate control. Ensures compliance with all state and Federal laws pertaining to firearms sales.

Orders firearms, ammunition, tactical gear, and other related accessories. Draws up work sheets using required information obtained from vendor or other sources. Compute correct markup for pricing of products. Oversees receipt and transfer of all firearms.

Maintains and enforces security of merchandise, funds, equipment and property, and must be alert to theft as well as initiating appropriate action to minimize shortages. May be responsible to open and close the activity, as required on an alternating basis.

Supervises employees to include: assigning and distributing work, coaching, counseling, tutoring, and mentoring employees; approving and disapproving leave, recommending and completing personnel actions, completing performance reviews and signing timecards, training employees, keeping abreast of and actively supporting the principles of the EEO program, and prevention of sexual harassment.

Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

EVALUATIONS:

Qualifications

Must have one experience in a supervisory/manager level position and six months of that in firearms and ammunition compliance, sales, receipt, and handling.

Ability to successfully complete and obtain/maintain a favorable background investigation at the Tier 3 security level clearance.

This is a "covered position" for the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment to the Gun Control Act for Department of the Navy civilian personnel. Due to contact with firearms, or ammunition in accomplishing work, DD Form 2760 certifying whether or not a "qualifying conviction" for a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence has occurred MUST be completed. The continuing obligation to notify the immediate supervisor of any qualifying conviction through completion of DD Form 2760 is REQUIRED.
