Data Center Specialist Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland Shift Work: Yes On-Call: After hours on call will be shared and on a "rotational basis. Schedule: 0800-1600 (M-F) Travel: Minimal Position Overview : The Data Center Specialist will provide Tier II technical support for external and internal customers within the organization. They will provide workstation and server administration for physical and virtual server environment. They will work individually, actively participate on integrated teams and provide detailed daily reports to management. They will oversee and monitor performance, and take steps to resolve issues. Responsibilities and Duties: Provide Active Directory administration including: manage user permissions, manage OU structure and GPO Promptly report all anomalies observed and take steps to correct Isolates and resolves hardware and software problems involving applications, operating system, hardware, or any combination thereof Deploy, configure and maintain the virtual environment Rack and cable physical devices within the Data Center Perform monthly maintenance on physical hardware and virtual machines Perform system administration of desktops, workstations, physical servers and virtual machines Maintain the cleanliness of the Data Center and all components within Work independently or with other team members as directed or required Required Skills and Qualifications: Security Clearance : Secret Required to have an active Security+ CE certification Required to achieve Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate within 6 months of hire. Minimum 2 years of experience in a Help Desk Support position Minimum 2 years of experience with Microsoft Enterprise Applications, Servers and Windows client machines. Knowledge of IT security principles and methods, such as firewalls, demilitarized zones, and encryption, remote access technology, Voice over IP (VoIP) and Web filtering. Must be able to work in a fast-paced work environment and ability to work alone. Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task. Self-motivated and directed, able to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. Ability to communicate effectively with customers and other employees via face to face communication, over the telephone or through email. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail. Strong customer-service orientation Working technical knowledge of networking protocols, operating systems, and technology standards.
