Supporting the Most Exciting and Meaningful Missions in the World Law Clerk I Works under the direction of an onsite client Supervisor and a PAE Project Manager. Performs complex legal research for the trial staff. Assists in preparing draft legal documents, such as motions, briefs, memoranda of law, etc. Assists attorneys with all phases of litigation. Tracks multiple cases and correspondence. Acts independently to fulfil client goals. May include acting as primary interface with trial attorneys, experts, and other client staff. Analyze documents received from foreign governments in criminal matters, facilitatingtranslation and certification of domestic legal documents for transmission to foreigngovernments. Communicate with US Embassy personnel on case-related matters and assist withprioritization of legal assistance and extradition cases. Prepare correspondence for review and signature of attorneys on domestic andinternational issues. Prepare initial drafts of proposed diplomatic correspondence relating to internationalcriminal matters for transmittal to the State Department and US Embassy personnel oninternational issues. Prepare written summaries of investigative reports, allegations, and facts in internationalcriminal cases for attorneys' review, supporting attorneys by analyzing factual portions offoreign legal assistance or extradition requests, often from the source language. Required Qualifications: Must be able to obtain and maintain a US government security clearance. Law degree required. Requires sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources. Requires excellent written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as Pacer, Courtlink, LEXIS and Westlaw. Must have at least two to three years of progressively more responsible experience on litigation support projects including proven capabilities and communication skills to successfully interact with clients and attorneys. Must have hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, and imaging. Role also requires hands-on familiarity with ESI tools, such as Relativity, and knowledge of e-discovery procedures and resources. Must be highly organized and capable of working under multiple deadlines. Preferred Qualifications: Preference to candidates with foreign language skills.
