Position Summary and Responsibilities Teledyne is now looking for an engineering manager with a background in thermal and thermodynamic systems to lead the Thermal-Fluids Engineering Department. The desired candidate will have demonstrated experience with thermal-fluid systems similar to the Teledyne Energy product line technologies, and both leadership and information management skills. Experience with creating new solutions to challenging issues is highly desired. The successful candidate will lead the Thermal-Fluids Engineering Department, part of the larger engineering group, supporting multiple product lines as well as developing custom products for high value applications. This will include working with customers to understand their applications and optimize our products for their end use. This person will work closely with highly capable engineering and design groups in an exciting and technically diverse organization.Work Description:Lead technical efforts and direct expert staff to ensure quality of development activities and productsRecruit, lead and mentor engineers, scientists and techniciansPrepare schedule and manpower plans that can be integrated into group staffing plans across the product lines and other engineering departmentsPrepare product requirements, support system engineering processes and guide brainstorming and problem solving activitiesProvide input to multi-year product development road mapsUnderstand and translate road maps into technology development goalsCommunicate strategic plans and vision to team members and customersManage customer relationships as needed and report program status to Engineering Director and product line managersManage one or more key programs in the thermal areaLead or support proposals and work with potential customers to bring in new programsLead or support product specifications, technical reports and prepare presentations for internal and external customersAttend conference and technical meetings Qualifications Qualifications:Required:BS in Engineering or Science Discipline with 10 plus years relevant experience (at least 5 leading engineering teams).Experience with advanced technology and product development in thermoelectric, Stirling or similar technologiesSuperior understanding of systems and subsystem integrationDemonstrated program and people leadership skillsSystem Engineering experience with product design requirements and specifications, requirements flowdown, risk assessment and mitigation, FMEA, root cause analysis, fault trees and other SE toolsExcellent verbal and written communication skills for proposals, reports and presentations High energy and self-motivated with good problem solving skillsDesired (considered but not required):Advanced degree in Engineering or ScienceSpecific experience with Thermoelectric and/or Stirling power systemsExperience with process control and statistical process analysisBusiness Development experience Citizenship Requirements Due to classified work at the facility and related access restrictions, successful applicants must maintain US Citizenship to allow the person to hold a US Government security clearance.
