Summary

The purpose of this position is to serve as an Administrative Management Specialist in the Sanctions Compliance & Evaluation (Compliance) Division of the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the U.S. Department of the Treasury. OFAC's primary mission is to administer and enforce economic sanctions against targeted foreign countries, terrorists and terrorist organizations and narcotic traffickers in furtherance of U.S. foreign policy and national security objectives.

Responsibilities

The following are the duties of this position at the GS-12. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
    • Maintain a high degree of awareness of management's objectives and ongoing programs and their relative importance in the overall mission of the Compliance Division.
    • Analyze and evaluate (on a qualitative and quantitative basis) interrelated issues of effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity, and establishes criteria to measure and/or predict the effectiveness of program operations in meeting established goals and objectives.
    • Research and develop/investigate a variety of internal and external issues and projects relating to a number of administrative and program-related matters.
    • Performs a variety of administrative support functions, providing administrative, and technical support services to facilitate the workflow of the organization; maintain a high degree of awareness of management's objectives and ongoing operating programs and their relative importance in the overall mission of OFAC; and perform a wide variety of analytical studies and projects related to administrative improvements, controls and long-range planning.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized experience:
For the GS-12, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes all of the following: knowledge of administrative management practices and procedures and organizational techniques; an advanced knowledge of automated office systems (word processing , databases, graphics presentation, internet-posting documents, spreadsheet software on a personal computer); skill in records and office management; and experience in making travel arrangements and scheduling domestic and international travel (knowledge of the Federal Travel Regulations is preferred).

For the GS-11, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes all of the following: knowledge of administrative management practices and procedures and organizational techniques; a thorough knowledge of automated office systems (word processing, database, graphics presentation, internet-posting documents, spreadsheet software on a personal computer); experience with records and office management; and experience in making travel arrangements and scheduling travel (knowledge of the Federal Travel Regulations is preferred).

OR You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related.

OR You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 36 semester hours (54 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education.

For the GS-09, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes all of the following: knowledge of administrative management practices and procedures and organizational techniques; knowledge of automated office systems (word processing, databases, graphics presentation, internet-posting documents, spreadsheet software on a personal computer); experience with records and office management; and experience in making travel arrangements and scheduling travel.

OR You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: Master's (or equivalent graduate degree) or completed 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Master's or equivalent degree.

OR You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 18 semester hours may be combined with experience.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- A one year probationary period may be required.
