Responsibilities

As an Administrative Assistant/Officer within the Cooperative Research Units, some of your specific duties will include:
  • Responsible for a full range of budget formulation and execution activities.
  • Develops cost estimates; monitor, track, and review obligations to ensure compliance with annual work plan.
  • Provide advice and counsel on administrative and operational management support issues.
  • Interpret and apply contract and procurement regulations providing advice and assistance to program employees in the preparation of requisitions.
  • Direct, advise, and train employees engaged in providing administrative support to program employees in all administrative areas including personnel, travel, property, vehicle management, and other office administrative support services.

    For GS-07 :

    Applicants must meet the following to qualify for the GS-7 level:

    Possess one year of specialized experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, the required specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-05 level in the Federal service. Examples of GS-5 level work may include: assisting with collecting and consolidating administrative data; participating in budget formulation activities; and providing assistance to employees relating to personnel, travel, procurement, property, and vehicle management issues.

    **OR: Applicants may substitute successful completion of one full year of graduate level education which provided the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

    For GS-09 :


    Applicants must meet one of the following to qualify for the GS-9 level:

    Possess one year of specialized experience in or directly related to this position that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. To be creditable, the required specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the Federal service. Examples of GS-7 level work include assisting with: 1) Preparation/execution of budgets; 2) preparing program/project documents, i.e., project descriptions and summaries; 3) coordinating procurement, property, vehicles, and space management functions; and 4) advising and assisting supervisors on actions concerning personnel matters.

    **OR: Applicants may substitute successful completion of 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education or mater's or equivalent graduate degree (such as an LL.B or J.D). (36 semester hours, 54 quarter hours, or the equivalent).

    **OR: Possess a combination of appropriate specialized experience (as described above) and graduate education (as described above) that is beyond the first year of progressive graduate study to meet the qualification requirements.
