Summary
The Junior Software Designer will design, develop, test, document, and implement new and existing software applications and solutions. As a Junior Software Designer , you will be required to create BPM workflows, configure and extend Appian objects and implement the system logic necessary to satisfy the requirements.

The Junior Software Designer will design, develop, test, document, and implement new and existing software applications and solutions. As a Junior Software Designer , you will be required to create BPM workflows, configure and extend Appian objects and implement the system logic necessary to satisfy the requirements.
Responsibilities
- Work with fellow team members and project leaders to design Appian applications, perform software configuration and customization, and create documentation.
- Refine and translate system software requirements specifications into structured Appian application programs.
- Configure, debug, test and document new applications and enhancements including, but not limited to forms, reports, underlying logic and interface components on development projects as assigned.
- Provide software development life cycle support, including conduct of technical requirements analysis, design, development, performance measurement, verification and validation, deployment, change management, and transition.
- Work with database administrators, the quality assurance team, system engineers, network engineers, and other staff to ensure data consistency, security, and privacy.
- Actively participate in design and systems development, software configuration and customization, and documentation.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- 4+ years of additional experience may be used in lieu of a degree
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with software application design, development, and testing
- Additional education or relevant higher-level certifications may be used in lieu of experience.
- 1+ years' experience with the Appian BPM Platform is required
- Experience with Agile and/or Federal software development environments preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Appian A1 or A2 certification is highly desired.
- Experience with systems and software architecture is desired.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to listen and understand what is being described by the end user as well as the ability to explain problem resolutions when necessary.
- Strong communications skills (both written and oral) and strong customer service skills.
- Strong technical and analytical skills with the ability to analyze system functionality with customers and resolve production issues.
- Possess and maintain a valid state operator's license.
- Ability to work independently without direct supervision or guidance.
- Ability to occasionally work after hours and/or as on-call support.
- Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time.
