Responsibilities

This position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administration's (DEA) Financial Management Division (FC), Office of Finance (FN), Financial Systems Section (FNS), Arlington, VA. The typical duties of Supervisory Financial Management Specialist serves as Chief, FNS, and is responsible for providing business and administrative management over existing DEA financial system operations, on-going system revisions, upgrades, and enhancements. If selected for this position you will perform the following duties:
  • Exercises Supervisory Responsibilities. Exercises supervisory and/or managerial authorities and provides occupational specific technical and administrative direction. Supports the agency's EEO program through allocation of personnel to participate in community outreach and recruitment programs, ensures full cooperation of employees with EEO office officials.
  • Plans, organizes, and directs section or unit activities. Develops goals and objectives that integrate planning & integration objectives. Assigns work to subordinate employees based on organization priorities and consideration of difficulty and requirements of assignments. Develops and oversees new projects for business process improvements, evaluating results, identifying gaps, overlaps, and areas for efficiencies, inputs/outputs, and recommends effective solutions for continuous improvement to senior management.
  • Leads Unified Financial Management System (UFMS) activities. Supports the DOJ Unified Financial Management System (UFMS). Lead efforts to ensure that financial systems support the financial management community.
  • Oversee financial systems support and operations. Leads efforts to provide front line user support, including managing the various financial system hotlines/help desks and communicating with users and managers worldwide of system changes and issues for the financial systems.
  • Provides financial systems guidance and recommendations to stakeholders. Provides financial system-related leadership to the financial management community, including making recommendations on best usage of the systems, potential improvements, and selection of new systems.

Qualifications

All applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal Service.

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.

GS-15: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level in the Federal service, which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

(1) Providing administrative, technical and supervisory support to a staff, including counseling employees, approving leave, recommending promotions, reassignments, details, applying performance standards; (2) Supporting automated financial management systems (i.e., Unified Financial Management System (UFMS)) operations and maintenance (O&M) activities; (3) Analyzing and resolving technical and business process issues; (4) Independently developing policies and procedures; and (5) Interacting with senior level officials within/outside DOJ.
