Responsibilities

  • Write and revise directives, instructions, and regulations governing Graduate Medical Education (GME) oversight.
  • Analyze the effects of new programs on existing and effectiveness in GME administration.
  • Ensure compliance with current law regarding Defense Health Agency's provision of GME for military medical treatment facility (MTF).
  • Responsible for the development of policies, preparation of administrative reports, production and monitoring on budgets.
  • Interface with acquisition agencies to ensure overall program coordination.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Program Manager (GME) Basic Requirement:

1. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service which includes, identifying and developing requirements of a program at a higher headquarter level; writing a variety of reports, such as: operational concepts, decision papers, position papers, recommendations, report assessments, etc.; and creating guidance and presentations with clarity to assure precise understanding of technical content.

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
