The Data Transfer Officer will have primary responsibility for providing for data classification transfer and management at the Mt. Weather facility in Bluemont, VA. The Data Transfer Officer (DTO) will be responsible for transferring data and products between networks and media creation for OS image deployment and patching on disconnected and remote systems. This position will carry additional duties to learn process for systems administration for operations and maintenance.


Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Serve as Data Transfer Officer performing removable media and cross domain transfers of files to include custody transfers of burned media to customers.
  • Maintain DTO credentials with customer programs.
  • Complete initial and periodic refresher DTO training in accordance with customer programs
  • Handle, store, and protect removeable media according to its classification level IAW Client's Instructions
  • Learn and maintain knowledge of Cross Domain Solutions, regulations, and policies.
  • Select, transfer and load items from one security or network domain to another security or network domain.
  • Use removable media to transfer information between domains/enclaves only where an approved cross-domain solution is unavailable
  • Maintain DTO transfer logs in accordance with client program stipulations
  • Provide weekly status to management detailing activities and accomplishments.
  • Serve as a final human reviewer of items to be released to the network/media
  • Submit and Respond to tickets on enterprise network
  • Maintain documentation and continuity books for the tasks and procedures.
  • Safeguard against use of removable media on information systems not configured to enfore removable media access restrictions
  • Facilitate forensic inspection of media at client's discretion
  • Acquire and use removable media only through client approved and directed channels
  • Report violation or suspected violations of client and company policies
  • Provide support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of IT systems
  • Provide support to IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for all of the client/server/storage/network devices, etc.
  • Provide Tier 1 problem identification, diagnosis and resolution of problem
  • Provide support for the escalation and communication of status to agency management and internal customers
  • Provide support for the dispatch system and hardware/software problems and remain involved in the resolution process.
  • Support requirements for managing installation, configuration and maintenance of Enterprise and Production workstations, network attached storage devices, and stored data in support of business processing requirements.
  • Attend meetings weekly and provide weekly status reports.
  • Must be able to manage own schedule, working autonomously and in groups.
  • Operational testing of equipment
  • Other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)
  • Bachelor's Degree and 2 years relevant experience or
  • Associates Degree and 4 years related experience or
  • 6+ years relevant experience with a HS diploma
  • Years of relevant work experience may include:
  • Review and handling of material based on classification markings and content
  • Proper records management with respect to digital media
  • Digital media and properties and creation via Bluray or DVD
  • UNIX, Windows, and/or Storage administration a plus
  • Experience working with trouble reporting and tracking systems such as Remedy/Service Plus a plus
  • Experience supporting the IC/DOD a plus
  • Experience in the imagery and geospatial intelligence domain a plus
  • TS/SCI required; with ability to pass CI polygraph.
  • Must have a valid US Passport

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Capable of inspecting and recognizing media with programs preconfigured to run automatically
  • Ability to learn, understand, and apply new technologies.
  • Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities is required.
  • Knowledge of the Customer's processes and procedures and of the Customer's production systems a plus
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to function as a team member and independently
  • Ability to travel up to 50% to client sites as well as external locations, CONUS.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • General knowledge of, windows administration, computer systems hardware, network administration and some network configuration management skills.
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Office applications
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications, and experience working in a home office setting as well as the ability to train end users on frequently asked technical issues.
  • Ability to provide technical assistance and support over the phone; good phone skills, professional demeanor, previous customer service experience strongly desired.
  • Good problem-solving skills; ability to visualize a problem/situation and think abstractly to solve it
