Responsibilities

As an Environmental Scientist, provides technical, programmatic, and project support for environmental review projects for NMSS. Serves as an Environmental Scientist assessing environmental impacts for the environmental review of commercial nuclear power facility license renewal reviews, licensing reviews of non-power production or utilization facilities (NPUFs) and various other licensing actions involving commercial nuclear power plants or NPUFs, such as extended power up rates. Serves as a technical witness, as needed, at public hearings representing the NRC within the area of the employee's technical expertise.The successful candidate will perform the full range of X duties (Example: full range of administrative duties for the division).

Background investigation leading to a clearance is required for new hires.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is defined as specific knowledge and experience applying the principles, theories, and practices in the fields of environmental science as related to assessing the environmental impacts of commercial nuclear power plants, NPUFs and/or fuel cycle facilities.

Education

Education Requirements:

A Bachelor of Science degree in physical science, biological or environmental science, or related field, plus graduate or equivalent level experience in the area of environmental impact analysis.
