Summary

This position is located in Large Bank Supervision on the LBS Strategy & Examiner Development Team. As a NBE/BE (LB Strategy and Examiner Development), you will coordinate/implement risk-based supervisory strategies based on portfolio-wide risk assessments as well as plan and execute a broad range of training and development programs related to bank supervision.

Responsibilities

As the National Bank Examiner/Bank Examiner (Large Bank Strategy and Examiner Development) you will:
  • Coordinate and implement priorities and risk-based decisions on the allocation of LBS examiner resources with the LBS portfolio. Identify emerging examination and supervisory issues and develop recommendations or alternatives for enterprise-wide resolution. Coordinate the process of developing, reviewing and implementing, risk-based supervisory strategies based on portfolio-wide risk assessments.
  • Advise in the planning and implementation of examiner training and development initiatives, monitor progress in achieving objectives, conduct analysis of program results and communicate risks or issues that could have bank supervision implications. Plan and execute a broad range of training and development programs related to bank supervision.
  • Provide authoritative guidance and recommendation in large bank supervision processes and programs. Serve as primary contact for LBS confidential management deliberations on examiner/ supervisory resource prioritization, allocation and sharing issues, as well as liaison with Midsize and Community Bank Supervision (MCBS) and other OCC bank units.
  • Prepare strategy analytics to identify risks and resource allocation issues. Identify and report significant findings, trends, and metrics.
  • Provide senior level guidance and coordinates the process of developing appropriate large bank risk-based supervisory strategies. Implement appropriate risk-based supervisory strategies based on portfolio-wide risk assessments. Suggest innovative supervisory approaches, guidance and/ or procedures to address new issues impacting the large bank population.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of this announcement:

You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the NB-V band level. Examples of specialized experience for this position include:
  • Leading examinations or reviews within a financial institution to determine its condition and compliance with banking laws and regulations, assess risks, and develop mitigation strategies and/ or corrective actions.

OR

Serving as an advisor or consultant to senior management on bank supervisory issues, supervisory strategies, and other organizational matters.

The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector, or through volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.

  • This is a 5 year rotational position. If selected, you will be required to sign a non-bargaining unit Rotational Agreement that details conditions.
  • This position may be filled in an alternative location subject to the provisions of the Alternative Location Arrangements PPM 3110-53. It may be filled in an alternative location provided the location is cost effective, operationally efficient, and complies with the standards contained in PPM 3110-53.
  • Washington, DC is the preferred location though any Large Bank City within the U.S. location of the OCC (field or satellite) will be considered under an alternative work location as defined in PPM 3110-53.
