Job Description We are seeking a Senior Engineer in Greenbelt, MD to join our team at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, supporting the Omnibus Multidisciplinary Engineering Services II (OMES-II) contract. The Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) is the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) next-generation operational Earth observation program that acquires and distributes global environmental data primarily from multiple polar-orbiting satellites. The program plays a critical role to NOAA's mission to understand and predict changes in weather, climate, oceans and coasts, and the space environment, which support the Nation's economy and protect lives and property. The Advanced Technology Microwave Sounder (ATMS) is a key weather instrument that collects microwave radiation (23GHz to 183GHz) used to characterize the Earth's atmosphere. * Support the ATMS NASA team by providing oversight of the ATMS flight instrument in all aspects of manufacturing, integration, and test * Report as required to the ATMS Chief Engineer and ATMS Instrument Systems Engineer * Apply systems engineering to requirements development and verification, technical document preparation and review * Travel to the instrument vendor and satellite integrator sites as required up to 50% per month REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: * A Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering and 10+ years related experience * 10 years of System Engineering skills including requirements development and verification * Able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. In order to obtain a clearance you need to be a US Citizen and show proof of citizenship. DESIRED EXPERIENCE: * Experience in Spaceflight qualified hardware manufacturing, integration and test * Technical document preparation and review expertise * Technical background in one or more of the following areas: RF, microwave, antennas, digital signal processing, electronics, EMI/EMC * Team building experience with organizational and verbal/written communication skills for consensus building and coordinating work across multiple areas * Proficiency using Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) * The ability to travel to the instrument vendor and satellite integrator sites up to 50% per month when needed * Certifications in Six Sigma, LEAN, PMP, or PMI * Experience with writing Excel Macros to aid in report generation * Familiarity with Microsoft Sharepoint * Experience with DOORS markup for requirement changes We are an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
