Field Service Engineer
Apex Systems, the nation's 2nd largest IT staffing firm, has a contract to hire engagement for a Field Service Engineer to join one of our clients in the Biotechnology Industry on their Support team in the Baltimore Metro Area. The Field Service Engineer is responsible for installing, servicing and supporting analytical systems provided to end users and clients. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES Performs unassisted installations of equipment both at customer sites throughout the United States and Canada as well as the facility. Performs service calls on equipment in the local throughout the United States and Canada. Performs escalated service visits throughout the United States and Canada. Checks outgoing system shipments to ensure that all necessary equipment has been received and is sent to customer sites. Coordinates with the customer as to installation dates, etc and ensures customer understands site prep documents. Thoroughly checks the equipment for proper functioning after the installation and provides familiarization training for the customer. employees or service representatives in the field as needed. Provides phone, email and on-site hardware support for all customers Provides support for other field personnel and service representatives when necessary. Ship parts and systems back to the main facility in Germany when necessary and interfaces with German service group for assistance on difficult cases. Maintains CRM database. Performs any other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS Good working knowledge of gas chromatography detection systems Experience with MSD's and LCs a plus Customer service experience a plus Good computer skills Good verbal and written communication skills Excellent interpersonal skills Excellent attention to detail Ability to work with minimum supervision OTHER The nature of field service work is such that many times the field service engineer is the Company's representative that the customer interacts with the most. It is imperative that this interaction is as positive as possible and the engineer communicates well with the customer, the sales force and the home office. The service engineer should always be prepared to do whatever it takes for the customer to have a favorable experience when dealing with our company.
