The eDiscovery + Data Analytics (eData) Department of Arnold & Porter has an opening for an eDiscovery Project Manager. This position can be located in the Chicago, Washington, DC or Denver office. The eDiscovery Project Manager supports individual case teams using litigation technologies; assists case teams in managing litigation documents throughout the automation process, and advises, assists and trains case teams in the use of litigation systems and acts as primary liaison to assigned case teams for the eData (litigation support) department. The Project Manager is responsible for day-to-day tracking of litigation support (eDiscovery) projects outsourced to litigation support vendors; works with case teams to prepare documents for processing by vendors and ensures that all assigned outsourced projects are on schedule and coordinates between vendors, the Senior Discovery Operations Manager and case teams. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Establishing a liaison role with the case team and assisting with any litigation support (eDiscovery) requirements. Consulting with and advising case teams on how to best use litigation support (eDiscovery) technologies to support their projects and consults on matters relating to electronic discovery as well as best practices for the preparation of documents (hardcopy and electronic format) for the automation process. Creating Relativity workspaces; processing data in Relativity workspaces; running searches at a case team request in Relativity workspaces; and producing documents from Relativity workspaces. Consulting with legal teams and clients on issues relating to the selection of third party hosting vendors and evaluation of proprietary review platforms, proper document production formats, management of vendor bidding and selection process, understanding the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and best practices for preservation and collection and document review and production workflow. Marketing litigation support (eDiscovery) services to legal teams including discussing benefits of automating document review and production process; reviewing and distributing of documentation regarding up-to-date litigation support (eDiscovery) trends and developing relationships with legal team personnel. Managing vendor relations including meeting with new vendors interested in working with the Firm; determining qualifications and references and sharing information to the group; monitoring and reviewing vendor invoices; maintaining pricing schedules; and keeping up to date on changes in vendor technologies. Tracking and managing workflow for all assigned projects outsourced to outside litigation support (eDiscovery) vendors and documents in a tracking database. Informing the Senior Discovery Operations Manager of issues relating to each project. Working with vendors to correct problems and ensuring that a quality deliverable is provided on schedule. Documenting and communicating project requirements and deadlines to vendors. Working with case teams to ensure that documents and electronic data are delivered to the vendor with clear written instructions relating to treatment. Delivering training on firm standard litigation support applications (Relativity, Brainspace, Opus 2, CaseManagerPro and TrialDirector) to users throughout the firm. Coordinating case team requests for technical support with Technical Operations. Coordinating coding projects, including vendor selection and review of coding manuals. Coordinating requests for new databases with Technical Operations personnel and assisting team members in selecting and designing appropriate data structures. Logging and documenting all requests. Monitoring and keeping up-to-date all tracking databases. Coordinating production of data and modification of database structures in consultation with Technical Operations. Coordinating database and workflow design. Training legal teams on management of Opus 2 databases. Importing and exporting transcripts to and from Opus 2 and providing related services as necessary. Creating logins for firm standard litigation support (eDiscovery) applications for internal and external users. As required by the case team, searching databases, printing reports, preparing custom reports and logging, modifying and coding data, print and organizing images. Assisting case teams with production of documents. Working with legal support personnel to efficiently transition appropriate document management responsibilities to the team. Advising team members on technical issues relating to the automation project. Approaching new needs or problems creatively and working with team members to provide effective support. Auditing new databases for quality and notifying Technical Operations personnel or vendors to quality issues. Working with Technical Operations or vendors to address quality issues.\ QUALIFICATIONS: Four (4) year college degree. Minimum three years experience in an active litigation environment preferred. Knowledge of and familiarity with one or more imaging applications. Knowledge of and familiarity with one or more relational or transcript database applications. Ability to handle a variety of projects and tasks simultaneously. Able to take initiative when needed. Assumes responsibility for projects from beginning to end, determining appropriate tasks. Proficiency in Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office Suite and/or related software. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Ability to demonstrate strategic focus. Possess exceptional judgment and professionalism. Strong problem solving skills. Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively. Possess reliability, dependability and motivation. Excellent organization and communications skills, both oral and written. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while exhibiting a strong attention to detail. Ability to handle a variety of tasks simultaneously. Exceptional client service both internal and external. Expected to work additional hours, weekends and holidays, as required in performance of duties.
