Judicial Education Program Director

The Law & Economics Center (LEC) is searching for a Director of Judicial Education. The LEC of the George Mason University Antonin Scalia Law School is a national center for research and education that focuses on the timely and relevant economic analysis of legal and public policy issues. To fulfill its education mission, the LEC provides dynamic training programs in law and economics to audiences including federal and state judges, state attorneys general, congressional staff members, academics, and other legal professionals.

Reporting to the Chief of Staff, the Director of Judicial Education will lead activities related to the LEC's Judicial Education Program (JEP) and act as recruiter and manager for all judicial participation in events offered by the law school and its centers and institutes. In this capacity, the Director will plan and organize the educational programs for state and federal judges, perform marketing and recruiting activities, and build relationships with potential audience members, supporters, and subject matter experts.

The JEP Director will require a willingness to participate in occasional weekend and evening programs and social events. Frequent out-of-town travel also required.

Required Qualifications: The Judicial Education Program Director must possess: * a JD; * 10 years applicable experience and demonstrate a keen understanding of the legal and public policy arenas; * Display an appreciation for the powers and duties of federal and state judges; and * Expertise in emerging civil justice issues and familiarity with law and economics as a field of study is particularly valuable.

The successful candidate will be: * Committed to and enthusiastic about, the mission and vision of the Law & Economics Center; * Able to work independently and take initiative; * Adaptable, flexible problem solver; * Possess excellent organizational skills, including the ability to juggle multiple tasks and priorities effectively; results oriented; * Team-focused, enjoy managing junior staff and working as part of an active group of highly-engaged individuals, sharing information readily with co-workers, and listening to and respecting others; * Professional demeanor and ability to interact with all levels of legal, academic, and governmental officials; and * Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written, able to speak in front of large and small audiences.
