Principal Associate, Enterprise Services Risk

As a Principal Associate in Capital One's Enterprise Services (ES) Risk, you will apply your analytical and delivery skills to our highest profile risk management projects. You will partner across Enterprise Services Risk to develop innovative risk solutions in a manner that enables responsible business innovation and protects our customers, shareholders, and associates. You will partner with peers and senior leaders, second and third lines of defense, as well as lines of business to drive change in order to better manage the Company's risk in an open, collaborative environment where new ideas and solutions are both welcomed and rewarded.

A successful Principal Associate in this role would help drive risk assessment activities to a timely completion, drive enhancements to risk assessment processes that would create efficiencies for our business partners, and support the reporting requirements generated from the processes this role helps manage.

Enterprise Services Risk professionals are experienced, well-trained, and progressive individuals that operate within a highly collaborative team environment to deliver value-added risk services to our business partners. The candidate will be a highly-motivated risk management professional with excellent support, analytical, planning, collaboration, and communication skills.

Responsibilities:

This is a Vertical Risk Guide role directly supporting Enterprise Services Risk, the External Affairs (EA) line of business (LOB), and the ES BCRO.

Specifically, this role will:
  • Support the EA LOB across multiple horizontal risk management programs. Includes risk oversight, change management, and effective delivery and facilitation of the programs on behalf of EA.
  • Provide consistent and dedicated support of EA business partners while maintaining an effective challenge role.
  • Develop Subject Matter Expert (SME) knowledge of both horizontal risk management programs and EA LOB functions.
  • Proactively identify process improvements that will improve risk assessment practices, including opportunities for automation
  • Engage with a diverse set of LOB Points of Contact (POCs) to track and deliver against risk assessment programs.
  • Create, maintain, and innovate on program governance as applied to EA.
  • Collaborate and partner with stakeholders across ES Risk, Compliance, ERM, ORM, AML, Audit, and EA.
  • Escalate areas of concern or risk to appropriate stakeholders and partners
  • Influence stakeholders in multiple segments of innovation through process improvements
  • Support ad hoc projects and EA programs as needed
  • Work to transform and promote the way we manage risk through innovation


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience
  • At least 2 years Risk Management, Compliance, or project or program management experience
  • At least 1 year of experience with Gsuite


Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least 3 years Risk Management or Compliance experience
  • At least 3 years project or program management experience
  • At least 2 years of experience supporting internal business clients
  • Experience working with PRIME and or JIRA / Confluence
  • Strong communication, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Strong relationship building skills, customer focus and ability to collaborate across teams to deliver
  • Industry Risk Professional Certifications
