Principal Risk Specialist - Finance Risk Management

Capital One is seeking a motivated professional to join the Finance Risk Management (FRM) group as a Principal Associate Risk Advisor. FRM is the Business Risk Office for Finance. The Risk Advisory function within FRM is responsible for identifying and monitoring the business risk associated with the Finance's activities and projects. We consider all business risks - operational, compliance, legal, reputational, strategic, credit, market, and liquidity.

As a Risk Advisor, you will have responsibility for partnering with peers within and outside the Risk Management community to ensure effective risk management for Finance. You will also provide insights to leaders across the organization, as we seek to make risk management a competitive advantage.

We are seeking a dedicated, disciplined, process and control professional who excels in a team environment. This person should possess excellent communication skills, attention to detail, the ability to work autonomously with business partners at all levels of the organization, and have the ability to adapt to change quickly. This person also needs to have experience in driving cross-functional projects.

Responsibilities:

· Identify and assess business risks and controls for Finance activities, specifically in the Tax, Investor Relations, and Financial Planning and Analytics, and On Demand Finance areas. Support the design and implementation of key controls which ensure appropriately mitigated risks.

· Drive risk and control assessments, partnering closely with Enterprise and Operational risk Management teams along with Compliance and other Second Line functions.

· Assist process owners in preparing for and executing audits and exams, consult on management responses, and monitor timeliness and quality of remediation and closure. Influence communication and interaction with auditors and examiners.

· Drive a well managed approach in On Demand Finance as well as data management, cyber security, and automation initiatives

· Provide ongoing risk advisory support to business partners for the implementation of new processes, enterprise programs or initiatives and project support.

· Develop and deepen relationships with business partners, executives, other Risk Offices, Second Line functions, Internal Audit, and examiners.

Basic Qualifications:

· Bachelor's degree or Military Experience

· At least 3 years experience in finance risk management or in project management

Preferred Qualifications:

· At least 4 years of experience in audit, or in compliance, or in risk management

· At least 4 years of experience in process management or in project management

· At least 4 years of experience in data analytics
