Position Overview:

Drive strong operational risk management knowledge and practices in Multifamily and the Enterprise that enables the Business to make informed, risk-based decisions. Strengthen decision-making and promote efficient business operations through select services, including management reporting, SharePoint development, training, and other business support activities.

The Governance and Business Services Risk Strategy and InnovationProfessional position will support GBS activities aimed at managing change efforts received from 1LOD, 2LOD, 3LOD, regulators and within GBS as well as advancing an innovative risk management strategy. The GBS Risk Strategy & Innovation Professional will be tasked with supporting activities across division levels and various levels throughout the company.

Governance & Business Services (GBS) is responsible for identifying and measuring operational risks, analyzing and reporting on risks, establishing governance over operational risks for the Multifamily division, and collaborating with the Three Lines of Defense and senior management across the company.

  • Coordinates risk policy and standard development, issuance, including relevant communications and training, and issuance of divisional procedures
  • Reviews risk policies/standards to assess sufficiency and ongoing adherence
  • Reviews risk governance structure and divisional delegations of authority
  • Project / change management of new business initiatives, new policies and standards adoption, gap assessments and requests received from external stakeholders
  • Coordination across the three lines of defense / regulators as it pertains to operational risk in Multifamily
  • GBS specific performance reporting to Divisional Risk Officer and all of MF Division
  • Support in design and implementation of innovative ideas for GBS

  • 2-4 years related experience
  • College degree or equivalent experience; work towards advanced studies/degree preferred
  • Understanding of Freddie Mac's Multifamily business and its overall business processes, controls and operational risk exposure (e.g., MF loan products, technology used), applicable laws and regulations, and industry frameworks
  • Knowledge of operational risk management practices in Multifamily, Freddie Mac and industry
  • Fundamental understanding of regulatory requirements, industry frameworks and expectations related to operational risk management (e.g., FHFA, prudential standards, Basel, Sarbanes-Oxley) and Freddie Mac's unique position as a GSE
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Proven track record of managing and setting competing departmental priorities
  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g., Project Management Professional - PMP, etc.)
