Responsibilities

  • Provides executive level advice and authoritative guidance to the NDU Chief Operating Officer and other University officials on the NDU Security program services and activities.
  • Interprets security policy originating from higher organizational levels; providing authoritative interpretation and guidance related to security and resolves issues involving conflicting security requirements.
  • Manages a substantial budget as well as significant contractual obligations related to security monitoring and alarm systems.
  • Directs the NDU Physical Security program and establishes, reviews, and maintains the protection systems for two campuses that contain five government buildings and one annex.
  • Manages an alarm monitoring contract that includes a contracted security guard force.
  • Oversees NDU's Information Security program; maintaining oversight of inventories and proper accounting, handling, storing and disposal of classified material.
  • Management, technical and procedural guidance and oversight of the NDU Personal Security program.
  • Provides administrative guidance to security personnel in verifying security clearances, passing and receiving of security clearances, granting access as required and manages personnel security clearance investigation programs.
First line supervisor for all Security personnel.

Qualifications

Specialized experience is defined as experience: Managing the full range of functions within a Security program with oversight of personnel, physical, and information security and leading a multi-function staff comprised of government and contract employees. Your resume must demonstrate 1) development and modernization of Physical Security, Personal Security and Information Security manning and infrastructure requirements, policies and procedures that are in compliance with security requirements established in Executive Orders, legislation, regulations, instructions and policy set forth by the Federal Government/DOD, 2) program and project management 3) budget, contract, and quality control oversight and 4) supervising a security workforce.

Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education is not substitutable for specialized experience for this grade level.
