Responsibilities

This position is located in the Resource Management Directorate, Accounting Division. The work of the unit supports various vital accounting, and fiscal operations. The office is responsible for a wide variety of financial documentation which frequently involves extensive research to resolve problems relating to vouchers, purchase requests, purchase orders, contract modifications, delivery orders, and other source documents. As needed, may perform any or all of procedure or technical duties concerned with quality assurance of financial systems, to include:
  • Coordinates with various activities on matters pertaining to accounts control and commissary administrative support
  • Analyzes trends in errors or deficiencies, surfaces problem, and recommends appropriate corrections.
  • Work in various phases of quality assurance and financial analysis.
  • Participates in conferences and meetings concerning interpretation and implementation of new or changes in policies and procedures in accounting/inventory matters.

Qualifications

To qualify applicants must possess at least one year of specialized experience at the GS-07 grade level (or equivalent) by the closing date of this announcement. This experience may have been gained in the private or military sector. At the GS-09 level applicants can also qualify on the basis of possessing a Master's of equivalent degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher graduate education leading to such a degree.

A combination of experience and education equaling100% of the qualifications.

In addition to meeting the qualifications outlined above, you must also meet the following requirements:

Time after competitive appointment: Candidates applying under merit promotion must have completed three months of civilian service after a competitive appointment by the closing date of the announcement. (5 CFR 330.501)

Time-in-Grade: Current or previous federal employees must have held a permanent appointment in the competitive or excepted service for a minimum of 52 weeks at the GS-07 (or equivalent) level to be eligible for the position by the closing date of the announcement.

Examples of specialized experience include:
  • Assessing the effectiveness of accounting and fiscal software, identifying problems, and initiating corrective actions.
  • Processing access requests for various systems and provide data analysis from various computer systems for reporting, trend analysis and managerial decision review.
  • Coordinates requirements, makes funding recommendations, and approves expenditures.
  • Prepares written and procedural and oral guidance concerning the format for financial data and information.
