Summary

About the Position:
Serves as an Administrative Management Specialist for the Chief, ODCS G-1 Management Support Office (MSO). Assists the staff with preparing management/internal controls, serves as the training coordinator for the (ASA (MRA))/ODCS G-1 personnel, and serves as the Defense Travel Administrator for the ASA (M&RA)/ODCS G-1. Maintains liaison, meets, and confers with representatives of Headquarters. Prepares related reports and briefings, as required.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as Training and Career Development Officer responsible for the management and coordination of all mandatory and available training for employees.
  • Provides guidance and help to supervisors in planning job-related career development activities for employees.
  • Processes and monitors all government and non-government training requests for ASA (M and RA)/ODCS G-1 military and civilian personnel.
  • Serves as Management Control Administrator responsible for the administration of the management control process.
  • Serves as the Defense Travel System Administrator (DTS) for ASA (M and RA)/G-1.
  • Manages the Army?s Suggestion Program (ASP) for the organization.

Qualifications

NON- Army applicants: This position is a TERM position. It is time-limited and may be extended up to a maximum of eight years.

For Current Army Employees: Position may be filled as a temporary promotion or temporary reassignment NTE (3 years) by a current permanent Army employee. Temporary promotions or temporary reassignments may be extended up to a maximum of five years, and may be made permanent without further competition.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes Serving as a Training & Career Development Officer to provide the management and coordination of all mandatory and available training to employees; processing and monitoring all Government and non-Government training requests for Military and Civilian personnel; serving as Management Control Administrator responsible for the administration of the Management Control Process for the organization; providing trouble-shooting guidance to travelers that are having problems with the automated travel system, such as the Defense Travel System. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
