Description

The purpose of this position is to oversee the operational activities related to the accreditation program of the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association to ensure effectiveness of unit policies and processes and the timely delivery of accreditation services.

Responsibilities

  1. Provide strategic oversight for day-to-day accreditation operations to ensure timely delivery of accreditation services from required accreditation submissions through accreditation decisions and reporting.
  2. Provide ongoing guidance to and engagement with academic programs, students, the public, CAA volunteers, and other ASHA business units regarding the accreditation process, services and/or operations. 
  3. Identify process improvements and implement measures to streamline efforts, improve productivity and accuracy in the accreditation program operations. Monitor effectiveness of accreditation program operations through ongoing analysis.
  4. Compile and provide data regarding accredited program performance in relation to quality benchmarks and prepare reports for CAA to inform decision-making.
  5. Provide input and participate in accreditation training and conference presentations. 
  6. Serve as subject matter expert for business requirements, content development, and implementation of systems supporting accreditation operations including technology and data management projects.
  7. Provide oversight and direction to the Accreditation Program Manager and the Manager Accreditation Program Effectiveness to ensure accurate and efficient performance of duties.
  8. Serve as liaison with other ASHA volunteer committees, as appropriate, and National Office units regarding accreditation standards, policies and procedures, public communications, and program education activities; support Director of Accreditation in liaison activities with external groups as needed.
  9. Assist Director in preparation of annual budgets; oversees accreditation fee invoicing process.

Qualifications

Knowledge Typically Acquired Through

  • Award of a bachelor’s degree
  • 5 or more years’ experience with an accrediting or credentialing agency
  • 2 or more years of management experience
  • Data base and project management experience
  • Experience in communicating with higher education faculty and administration, members of professional associations, and students

Scope and Depth of Technical Skills/Knowledge

Demonstrated ability to:

  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Interpret and determine compliance with non-technical accreditation standards
  • Function effectively in a technical environment (database systems, Web environments, association management systems, etc.
  • Independently compose correspondence and technical documents
  • Create and utilize Windows, Microsoft Office, data base management, and presentations software to produce reports, presentations, and documents

Scope and Depth of Non-Technical Skills/Knowledge

Demonstrated ability to:

  • Organize and prioritize multiple and complex projects and tasks
  • Complete large volume of work with tight deadlines
  • Independently identify and manage sensitive and confidential matters
  • Supervise other permanent and temporary employees
  • Quickly build and sustain relationships
