Strategy Director, Consumer Intelligence

Projects focus primarily on developing enduring and profitable growth and value enhancement strategies, while working within the business to influence results and ensure follow through.

We seek an exceptional and innovative individual to join Corporate Strategy's Consumer Intelligence team (CI). Consumer Intelligence was formed by a CEO mandate to elevate the voice of the customer in our business. The team uses focused thinking and rigorous analysis to identify opportunities, define strategies, and solve problems rooted in customer. We project our expertise through compelling communication and influence skills that impact critically important, highly visible topics. Team members function as strategy associates with a deep customer focus, and with exposure to an expanding list of business partners. Consumer Intelligence is seeking a Director to join its entrepreneurial team to lead efforts to bring the voice of the customer into business decision-making.

Job Description:

A successful Director will:
  • Lead the development of whitespace consumer insights on high priority, high visibility topics focused on customer
  • Balance strategy and analytics, constantly seeking the "answer to the case" while bringing subject-matter expertise and quantitative toolkit to bear
  • Leverage quantitative and qualitative problem-solving to identify, structure, and break down high-impact Enterprise-wide customer priorities
  • Craft compelling stories rooted in rigorous insights to influence senior business leaders in the company
  • As an example, this role could include leading a cross-functional team to identify the most valuable Enterprise customer journeys - including unpacking where we are today, quantifying opportunities, and influencing business leaders to invest in improving them
  • Manage and coach high potential associates, including actively crafting a vision for their roles and their success
  • Demonstrate passion for the customer; participate actively in furthering customer-centricity at Capital One


Responsibilities:
  • Consult with partners across lines of business to identify and unpack high-impact insights to drive Enterprise-wide customer outcomes
  • Design and lead rigorous analysis related to strategic customer and pre-customer opportunities - including internal customer analysis, competitive panel-based whitespace research, competitive experience and marketing tracking, and qualitative research
  • Advance the thinking on marketplace and competitive insights, working with others on the team to manage and evolve our data portfolio
  • Develop relationships with and influence agendas of key senior business leaders
  • Independently manage projects and people while also leading group problem-solving
  • Directly manage 1-2 associates and horizontally manage broader teams across Consumer Intelligence, Corporate Strategy, and partner teams
  • Assume increasing project, partner, and people management responsibilities


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least six years' experience in Strategy Consulting or Business Analysis


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to identify and solve problems independently in a constantly changing environment
  • Exceptional people management and development skills
  • Fantastic interpersonal skills, with experience influencing senior decision making
  • Demonstrably strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in data analysis and in working with large data sets (including with database queries and in cloud-based environments)
  • Experience with survey design and analysis of customer survey data
  • Familiarity with statistical modeling and software including R
  • Familiarity with design thinking
