Responsibilities

  • Participates in the establishment of budget planning allowances for future budget years, taking into account Bureau's and Department of Commerce's policies, legislative and fiscal constraints.
  • Serves as the functional point of contact for day-to-day budget/financial issues.
  • Performs a wide range of administrative, technical, and analytical duties in the formulation, execution, presentation and review of BIS's staffing budget office programs.

Qualifications

Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Specialized Experience requirements as noted below.

Specialized Experience:
GS-13: You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal government, performing the following duties:
  • Formulating budget estimates to ensure program funding;
  • Developing new guidelines and principles to administration of assigned budgetary functions; and
  • Assimilating data and tables for the budget formulation process that is entered into a database.
Specialized Experience:
GS-14: You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal government, performing the following duties:
  • Preparing multi-year budget estimates to ensure program funding;
  • Collaborating with program managers, and Congressional Staff in the development of performance and evaluative measures;
  • Recommending changes to bureau budget policies and/or legislation affecting program funding; and
  • Scheduling and coordinating all phases of the budget process needed to formulate, present, and execute budget programs.
