Job Description
Washington Post Live is looking for a production assistant to join our editorial team. We are looking for a self-starter who has a positive attitude, is highly organized, detail-oriented and can perform well under the pressure of a fast-moving news environment. Someone who has demonstrated editorial skills, can follow detailed instruction but is also able to take initiative when needed, and has an ability to execute production tasks with precision and attention to detail.
The ideal candidate is a team player with strong communication skills. This position reports to the executive producer and will also work closely with WPL editorial director and senior producers on news content production for a digital platform.

RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Assisting with program production, including graphics and video elements
- Writing/creating lower thirds
- Creating run of show grids from producer notes
- Tracking daily booking outreach in Excel
- Assisting with editorial and video research
- Organizing and updating various spreadsheets with precision
- Organizing show transcriptions
- Managing deadlines with the event side of the team
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree required (TV/Film/Journalism or related field) or equivalent work experience (2 years in newsroom or similar environment)
- Demonstrated production and digital skills
- Strong writing and research skills
- Strong editorial and organization skills, as well as the ability to perform duties under deadlines
- Must be familiar with various media formats
- An understanding of the current digital landscape of live streaming
- Familiarity with content publishing/CMS tools desirable
- A strong understanding of social media and managing social media accounts desirable
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule which may include working extra hours until deadlines are met
