Summary

This position is a senior Information Technology (IT) Specialist in the US Department of the Treasury, Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP), Office of the Associate Director - Chief Information Officer (CIO), Office of Information Technology (IT) Operations, Division as assigned. The mission of BEP is to securely and efficiently produce U.S. currency and other government securities that satisfy the current and future needs of the American public and the government agencies that BEP serves.

As a Information Technology Specialist, you will:

- Serve as Subject Matter Expert for new enterprise wide infrastructure deployments in the Microsoft Windows infrastructure including Active Directory, Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP), Physical and Virtual Servers, HyperVisors, networking, data management (backup/restore) and Storage Area Networks.

- Design and develop prototypes and evaluate new infrastructure systems and plan and develop the deployment approach for the system integration, operation, and management of large scale implementations of high-level and/or wide-spread systems that constitute new enterprise-class systems.

- Coordinate and perform the design and implementation of new IT systems and expansions or modifications to existing systems, including the implementation of various system configurations.

- Work closely with the project management team and track the status of IT system design projects through the planning, development, modification, maintenance, and evaluation phases of the project

- Develop, oversee, and monitor recovery plans for system failure situations and utilizes knowledge, skill, tools, and documentation to isolate the root causes of problems among hardware, system software, and applications programs.

- Serve as a Contracting Officers Representative (COR) and/or IT Project Leader for IT-related projects and associated acquisitions.

SUITABILITY, CLEARANCE & REQUIREMENTS: A background investigation will be required for all new hires. The background investigation process conducted by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing is very thorough. Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized experience: For the GS-14, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:

- Planning, designing, configuring, installing, and administering Information Technology (IT) systems; AND
- Serving as an IT Project Leader or a Contracting Officers Representative (COR) for IT related projects; AND
- Researching and analyzing methods and procedures and making recommendations to incorporate changes to existing IT systems.


Specialized experience: For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:

- Assisting with the planning and design of IT systems; AND
- Serving as an IT Project Leader or a Contracting Officers Representative (COR) for IT related projects; AND
- Researching and analyzing methods and procedures to incorporate changes to existing IT systems.


In addition to meeting specialized experience, applicants must also show proficiency in 1) attention to detail, 2) customer service, 3) oral communication, and 4) problem solving.

In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:

For the GS-14, you must have been at the GS-13 level for 52 weeks.

For the GS-13, you must have been at the GS-12 level for 52 weeks.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

- A one year probationary period may be required.
- Public Trust - Background Investigation will be required.
- Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.

- Wear required safety clothing and/or equipment required by the position. This may include safety shoes, hard hats, hearing protection, gloves, masks, etc.
- Weekend work and overtime, if applicable, will be scheduled when needed based on production requirements as determined by Management.
