Research Coordinator

The College of Health and Human Services at George Mason University seeks a Research Coordinator for the ECHO research project. About the Department: The College of Health & Human Services resides in Peterson Family Health Science Hall, a new state-of-the-art building that is home to the newly opened Population Health Center whose mission is to provide inter-professional clinical and behavioral health, while supporting population-based research and offering professional development and training opportunities.

The NIH has launched a seven-year initiative called the Environmental influences on Child Health Outcomes (ECHO) program to advance knowledge and understanding of the effects of environmental exposures on child health and development. Its stated mission is to enhance the health of children for generations to come.

Responsibilities The Research Coordinator will be primarily responsible for executing ECHO prenatal /early childhood protocol requirements. The incumbent will assist with recruiting ECHO prenatal participants into the current proposal; inform patients or caregivers about study aspects and outcomes to be expected, administer surveys and collect survey returns; monitor research participants to ensure adherence to study rules, scheduling clinic, home and laboratory visits; collecting biospecimens to the GMU biorepository; code, evaluate, and enter data into databases, and ensure that the necessary supplies and equipment for the study are in stock.

Specific duties * Schedule and conduct research participant visits; * Consent patients into the research study; * Perform participant follow-up on site and remotely by phone or home visits in order to complete study requirements; * Complete data entry and perform data quality checks, audits and corrections; * Additional duties may be assigned to meet project deliverables.

Required Qualifications: * Master's degree in a relevant field or Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and experience in child/family clinical research may substitute for the advanced degree; * Possess commendable organizational skills; * Attention to detail; * Project management skills and knowledge of project management best practices; * Excellent communication skills; verbal and written; * In depth information about the project area; * Experience in data collection and data management; * Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills; * Ability to work within a team; * A multi-tasker with strong ability to work under pressure; * Proficient in using computers with related knowledge of software programs and Internet.
