Job Description
The SaaS Billing Manager will ensure accurate and timely generation of global billing for two SaaS products, ARC Publishing and Zeus Performance Software, and Digital Enterprise Solutions subscriptions using SaaS billing platforms and Salesforce.
This position is highly visible and requires a strong leader with extensive finance knowledge and the ability to prioritize, plan, and direct a high performing team.
Through internal partnerships and collaboration with the Financial Planning and Analysis, Operations, Financial Accounting, Sales, and Engineering teams, the successful candidate will support aggressive growth of SaaS revenue, which is a key strategic goal of The Washington Post.
This individual will be instrumental in shaping and building our SaaS billing management practices and assist a team of two billing analysts in meeting their performance goals through active management, coaching, and professional development.

Responsibilities:
- Manage all aspects of SaaS billing in accordance with GAAP revenue recognition standards
- Review all contracts for new business and direct preparation of invoices and any required supporting documentation to comply with contract terms
- Continuously evaluate and improve the efficiency of billing processes and procedures to enhance speed, quality, efficiency, and productivity of the team
- Resolve client-billing problems and escalations
- Ensure internal policies and procedures are documented and enforced
- Work closely with the revenue recognition team to ensure all accounting for billed and unbilled revenue is correct
- Provide supporting documentation for audits
- Partner with different teams across the organization to efficiently bill clients for emerging products
Experience:
- At least seven years billing experience with no less than three years managing a team
- Knowledge of SaaS billing platforms and Salesforce
- Experience with subscription-based SaaS billing, software license billing, and usage-based billing
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, specifically related to billing and revenue recognition of SaaS products
- Knowledge of advanced Excel functionalities
- Experience with billing automation
- Demonstrated ability to effectively negotiate and manage through conflict
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively within a fast paced, changing environment
- Self-starter with the demonstrated ability to take initiative, proactively identify issues/opportunities and recommend actions
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to read and decipher contracts
- Understand the entire order to cash process
