Job Announcement

This full-time, 40-hour/week, merit position is part of the DSVS County-Wide Coordination team. The Prevention and Education Coordinator is the lead worker responsible for identifying community needs, planning, developing curricula, and coordinating the provision of sexual and domestic, human trafficking (sexual exploitation) and stalking violence prevention, technical assistance, and education programs to the public, including diverse populations. Researches and maintains updated knowledge of emerging issues and trends pertaining to the prevention of inter-personal violence ranging from primary to tertiary activities. Develops and maintains effective partnerships and participates in coordinated community responses to interpersonal violence. Develops and monitors evaluation measures and key performance indicators for prevention work. Uses quantitative and qualitative data from a variety of sources to inform prevention strategies and other areas of work. Provides coverage for 24-hour crisis hotlines and after-hours, on-call support on a rotational basis, and participates in events held in the evenings and on weekends, as needed. Other duties as assigned. A successful candidate will have excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills, have thorough knowledge and understanding of prevention; have demonstrated leadership including facilitating meetings, leading groups, teams and peers; be able to adapt in a changing environment; knowledge of inter-personal violence issues, trends, and interventions; an ability to develop and present high quality and engaging educational programming, organize information, and manage workload sufficiently to meet deadlines; demonstrable understanding and acceptance of equity and diversity. This position requires a current valid driver's license.

Note: The functional areas of this position are public speaking; training and curricula development, research and policy development; key data development and management, technical advice and guidance to departmental managers; administrative management.

Independently designs, develops, and coordinates ongoing department programs and special projects;
Performs a wide range of professional-level management work for more than one broad administrative function including complex analysis and diverse project management in a lead capacity;
Coordinates and manages the work of administrative, para-professional, and/or professional-level staff in the day-to-day activities of selected projects. Plans, organizes, and coordinates changes to the policies, procedures, or processes related to multiple administrative functions (financial, procurement, budget, human resources, contract or grants administration, information technology systems, etc.);
Plans and conducts or oversees studies or research activities to ensure program quality, determine unmet needs or ensure efficacy of existing programs;
Provides guidance, recommendations, and advice to departmental managers;
Serves on committees, task forces, and management teams to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of existing management/administrative systems;
Writes, edits, and finalizes reports and presentations and presents findings and recommendations to department senior managers.

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the following:

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in field related to the assigned functional area; Plus four years of professional work experience with in the functional area.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's degree in public health, policy, social work (MSW), psychology or other related field, experience working with victims of domestic and sexual violence, stalking and/or human trafficking.
  • Experience providing technical assistance to various stakeholder groups.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to include effective presentation and group facilitation skills.
  • Experience with program evaluation.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Valid driver's license.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background a driving record check, and a Child Protective Services check to the satisfaction of the employer.

This position is considered essential personnel and will be required to report to work during times designated countywide as approved for unscheduled leave regardless of the emergency situation (i.e., weather, transportation, other disaster).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to use automated technology to access and other keyboard driven equipment to input, retrieve and process information via computer is required. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Must be able to transport self and equipment to different worksites or locations to attend meetings and community forums. Employee may be required to lift up to 35 lbs. Sufficiently mobile to attend meetings, trainings, and community events held outside the office. All duties are performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
