This position is part of the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Joint Chiefs of Staff. The incumbent provides the staff with technical advice on operations and maintenance of the automated system and on the capabilities of Automated Data Processing equipment and software.

Responsibilities

This position is being filled under DoD Modified Direct Hire Authority, Section 1109; PL, 116-92, dated 12/20/2019 .

As a INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (PLCYPLN/SYSANALYSIS) at the GS-2210-12 some of your typical work assignments may include:
  • Conducts 24/7 operation and security of the Joint Training Enterprise Network (JTEN). Maintains network capability by administering technical services and dynamic Information Assurance measures.
  • Ensures training network devices, computers, and servers are in compliance with DoD, Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) and Joint Staff directives.
  • Oversees contract development of hardware, software, and communications installation plans, considering the latest techniques and interface/compatibility requirements to existing equipment which encompass multi-vendor interconnections.
  • Develops and documents Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Performs integration of hardware and software components assuring software and systems quality and functionality.
  • Serves as a network or system administrator for several separate local area network (LAN)/wide area networks (WAns) or Systems.
  • Reviews current work processes and requirements within the organization and develops ADP capabilities.
  • Defines current and future IT business environments.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS -12 , if you fulfill the following qualifications:

One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service as listed below :
1. Applies a broad range of IT principles, methods, advancements, policies, systems concepts, to provide analysis, design, development, testing and applications for hardware and software systems/policy planning.

2. Serves as a technical representative on IT contracts and review/generate IT procurement packages to ensure acquisition requirement compliance.

3. Evaluates computer system design, prototypes, and computer applications in the design and development processes.

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.

This position is designated a DoD Manual 8570 IAT Level II cyber security position.

As a condition of employment, the incumbent is required to obtain and maintain IAT Level II certification under DoD 8570.01-M within six months or less of entrance on duty.
