Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise necessary to resolve software-interfacing problems of an unusual or difficult nature.
  • Perform a detailed examination of the number and kind of records, files, and documents necessary, and the procedures to obtain and organize the required information.
  • Provide expert technical support for financial management and payroll system activities.
  • Test programs or databases, correct errors, and make necessary modifications.
  • Validate application programs, executive programs, and data files are correctly integrated and the processing logic is consistent with system standards.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including time-in-grade restrictions, specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.

Time in grade:
Applicants must have one year specialized experience at the next lower grade to be considered for the next higher grade (e.g. one year at the GS-11 grade level for consideration for the GS-12 grade level).

Specialized Experience:
One year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-11 level in Federal Service or equivalent responsibility in the private sector/pay systems equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform duties as an IT Specialist (Systems Administration) such as: performing information technology (IT) system design and maintenance for IT programs for application to financial processes. Participating in and/or leading teams in IT system design projects. Investigating problems and inefficiencies with major IT systems, programs, and/or subsystems. Facilitating the build, test, and deployment of solutions based on the final technical specifications. Performing detailed examination of a proposed plan and/or design, recommending course of action; testing financial systems and interfaces; evaluating system test results.
