Summary

The position serves as the Staff Assistant to the Assistant Director (AD)/Deputy Assistant Director (DAD) for Office of Enforcement Programs and Services (EPS) in Washington,DC. Serves as the Directorate's customer service representative to all internal ATF directorates and programs. Performs administrative work and serves as liaison between the AD/DAD/Chief of Staff and subordinate divisions and branches,provides instructions to implement policies, procedures, programs, and assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Provides advisory services to the Assistant Director, the Deputy Assistant Director concerning a wide range of Bureau Management activities and programs.
  • Gathers factual and subjective data from employees and management to provide thoroughly researched analysis, identify controversial issues and provide appropriate alternatives, prepares reports of findings and makes recommendations for solutions.
  • Performs administrative work in support of the Assistant Director, Deputy Assistant Director and the Chief of Staff and serves as liaison between the AD/DAD/COS and subordinate divisions and branches, and provides instructions to implement his or her policies, directives, and assignments.
  • Serves as the Assistant Director's point of contact for all outside officials and associations, providing detailed information on programs, facilitating information exchange.
  • Writes letters and correspondence as needed.

Qualifications

To qualify for GS-12 candidates must also have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in Federal service. Specialized experience is demonstrated experience, which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. Experience must be in the normal line of progression or must be related to the work of the position advertised and must be reflected in resume. Examples of specialized experience include: Experience providing analytical and administrative support by reviewing and analyzing various reports, addressing customer complaints and creating reporting dashboards or spreadsheets; experience identifying controversial issues and providing appropriate alternates; experience planning, developing, and coordinating a wide variety of administrative support functions such as preparing documents and making decisions based on a broad of mission requirements; and experience presenting both oral and written recommendations.
