Job Announcement

Under minimal supervision of the Community Engagement Services Supervisor, responsible for all aspects of volunteer management activities that support the Domestic and Sexual Violence Services (DSVS) Division. Responsibilities include recruitment, training, supervision and management of 100 plus volunteers who provide 24-hour crisis hotline counseling, facilitation of psychoeducational groups, hospital accompaniment, court accompaniment, community education, data entry, and office clerical support. Develops, coordinates, and facilitates volunteer services trainings and quarterly in-services. Provides presentations and outreach on volunteer management and Domestic and Sexual Violence Services. Develops quarterly Volunteer Services newsletter. In collaboration with DSVS management analysts, establishes goals and key performance indicators for Volunteer Services, and compiles monthly and annual reports. Serves as an expert and trainer on the county-wide Volunteer Management Systems database. Develops and administers annual volunteer surveys. Attends interdisciplinary team meetings and other agency meetings. Actively participates in volunteer management organizations and networking groups to bring best practices and current trends to Volunteer Services. Develops and updates the DSVS Volunteer Services policies and procedures manual.

Ensures acceptable levels of quality and quantity in the delivery of services;
Identifies crisis situations and provides intervention as needed to address difficult or dangerous client situations;
Solicits concerns, issues and recommendations from staff and volunteers regarding programmatic needs and systemic issues;
Evaluates the effectiveness of policies and procedures and recommends changes;
Promotes the attainment of agency and individual staff goals related to service access components (Automatic Call Distribution service levels, case objective outcomes, time studies, silent monitoring, and customer service surveys) through the ongoing monitoring of service requests and subsequent service delivery;
Establishes and maintains ongoing collaborative relationships with public and private providers, community-based groups, and residents to coordinate and integrate services, improve access, and identify community needs and barriers to service delivery;
Participates as a team member in the continuous improvement of the human services access process

Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree, plus two years of professional social work experience. A master's degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of the required experience.

Contingent upon the area of assignment, some positions within this class may require specific certification(s) prior to employment and/or the ability to acquire necessary certification(s) within a specified time period following employment. The certifications are identified in the position description and employment advertisement .

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience with management of volunteer programs within the human services field.
  • Knowledge of domestic and sexual violence, stalking, and human trafficking.
  • Experience with community engagement, conducting outreach, and delivery of trainings and presentations.
  • Strong engagement skills.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia in one of the following: Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor, Clinical Psychologist, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Practitioner or Clinical Nurse Specialist.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background a driving record check, and a Child Protective Services check to the satisfaction of the employer.

This position is considered essential personnel and will be required to report to work during times designated countywide as approved for unscheduled leave regardless of the emergency situation (i.e., weather, transportation, other disaster).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Sufficiently mobile to travel throughout Northern Virginia to facilitate presentations, trainings, and to attend meetings and events outside of the office. Ability to lift up to a maximum of 50 pounds. Ability to use automated technology. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. All duties are performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
