The Washington Post is looking for a Manager of Product Marketing to lead our team of Product Marketers. You will focus on product positioning and enabling your team, while relying heavily on your ability to effectively use communication to build trust and be a collaborative partner within the sales team and across the organization.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
  • Lead a team responsible for product positioning for brands, publishers and the industry at large tied to The Post's advertising solutions, journalism and products in addition to our emerging businesses (Zeus & RED) that clearly demonstrates its value to the customer
  • Own the representation of the product marketing team's efforts and executions to key stakeholder's like the Sales organization
  • Manage the expectations of partners across the organization as to what product marketing does and the deliverables/strategies that will come out of the group
  • Build and maintain the operational structure of the group with a strong focus on the group's deliverables, details and efficacy
  • Work with creative and planning teams to assess efficacy of our products and ensure that feedback leads to optimizations where appropriate. Feedback should also be used to establish best practices and lead to an overall increase in efficacy of rollouts.
  • Create and deliver product overview on-boarding program to sales team and all relevant support functions
  • Work closely with brand strategy to ensure products and their roadmaps are being incorporated effectively in ideas and proposals
  • Lead the product marketing team to serve as experts and the "go to" contact when it comes to questions that may arise from sales operations and pricing.
  • Work with key stakeholders to formalize a "product roll out process" that takes into account the complexity a specific launch (small, medium, large tier launches)
  • Develop strong cross functional communication channels throughout the organization to facilitate transparency and trust that results in stronger product offering
  • Be accountable for effectively communicating with product stakeholders to provide clarity and manage expectations
  • Build trust with teams and stakeholders through open and honest conversation
  • Coach your team to get the best feedback from sellers and product stakeholders in order to optimize offerings and sales efficacy
  • Work with Director to provide them with clear and concise feedback on the needs of our customers in order to help drive the editorial and product pipeline to best support sales needs.


WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO OUR TEAM:
  • Experience working with a newsroom or within a news organization is required
  • Understanding of the news and ad tech landscape is required
  • Experience with a media, ad tech or agency business is a plus
  • 8-10 years of product marketing experience (as a minimum) and with 2-3 years in a technology or advertising environment
  • Product development, launch and operational experience highly preferred
  • Experience using data, research and consumer insights to inform product development, strategy, prioritization and messaging
  • Experience managing direct reports and a web of stakeholder peers
  • Experience with product marketing research, messaging, positioning, pricing, branding, creative development, campaign execution, etc.
  • Strong strategic thinker with ability to connect ideas and new product development opportunities across current and future products, technologies and innovative platforms
  • Demonstrable presentation and writing skills that would persuade even the most skeptical of people
  • Excels at collaborative and diplomatic stakeholder management
  • Proven project management and stellar self-discipline abilities
  • Demonstrates key skills: persuasiveness, analytical skills, clear and proactive communication, ability to multitask, patience in times of frustration, speed in task accomplishment, and resilience
  • A continuous improvement and "grow from good to great" mindset that drives you to be continually mastering your craft, both as a leader and a product marketer
