Full Time
The Certification Advisor is responsible for the delivery and implementation of the Safe Kids Worldwide (SKW) Child Passenger Safety (CPS) Certification Program and other training opportunities. He/she will plan, implement, direct and evaluate the program in accordance with accepted national standards and administrative policies. He/she will also serve as the SKW CPS technical advisor and provide support to other CPS activities as needed.


Minimum Education
Bachelor's Degree

Specific Requirements and Preferences
Equivalent related experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's Degree. (Required)

Minimum Work Experience
3 years expertise in the area of specialty. (Required)

Required Skills/Knowledge
Demonstrated leadership and management skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong analytical and report writing skills a must.
Familiar with department budget and interpersonal communication.
Strong computer and database skills required.
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.

Functional Accountabilities

Lead the Strategy and Implementation of the CPS Certification Program and Additional Trainings
1. Develops, implements and evaluates plan for the Certification program that supports organizational goals.
2. Manages program contracts and ensures deliverables are met within prescribed time frame.
3. Manages external and internal program budgets.
4. Develops protocols for communicating certification information to stakeholders.
5. Develops, directs, and implements policies and procedures to achieve program goals.
6. Represents Safe Kids, as the Certifying Body for CPS, on the National Child Passenger Safety Board.
7. Holds self and staff accountable for developing and modeling identified cultural values.
8. Models expected organizational behaviors.
9. Identifies additional training needs and certification opportunities for technicians and implement new training opportunities.
10. Coordinates activities to meet sponsor-directed activities and programs.
11. Develops and maintains strategic partnerships to promote certification in communities serving underserved populations.
12. Manages staff that support the Certification program.
13. Manages customer service activities for certification program.
14. Manages program activities to ensures technician and instructor certification standards are met for all certified individuals.
15. Manage and ensure quality assurance of certification and recertification standards, policies and procedures.
16. Supervises certification training program(s).
17. Evaluates operational issues and recommends solutions for improvement to SKW leadership.

Manage External Relationships related to the Certification Program and trainings
1. Acts as the liaison and manages the relationships with subcontractors, government agencies (ex: National Highway Traffic Safety Administration), and corporate sponsors (e.g. State Farm).
2. Develops and negotiates proposals for subcontractors and program sponsorship from current and future sponsors/funders.
3. Supervises the activities of subcontractors providing an integrated service.
4. Reviews invoices and ensure budget parameters are being met.
5. Manages program updates to sponsors.
6. Engages additional sponsors to enhance program efforts as they are identified by organizational priorities.

Drive Program Innovation
1. Looks across departments for opportunities to make the organization more effective.
2. Recognizes and shares opportunities for innovation and improvement for the certification program and creating new trainings.
3. Represents the department in organization-wide innovation and improvement efforts.
4. Monitors and identifies strategic opportunities to grow and evolve the certification program.

CPS Technical Advisor
1. Serves as CPS technical advisor and collaborates with the Programs, Research, Communications and Advocacy teams to ensure injury prevention information is disseminated accurately and effectively to internal and external audiences.
2. Assists with developing and reviewing program materials and information for web properties to ensure injury prevention content is current and relevant.
3. Responds to requests from general public and provides information about child injury risks and prevention.
