Responsibilities

This position resides within the NextGen Organization, Portfolio Management & Technology Development Office ANG-C, Technology Development & Prototyping Division, ANG-C5, Navigtion Branch, ANG-C51. The Portfolio Management &Technology Development Office meets the complex challenges associated with transforming the air transportation system while still maintaining and improving the existing National Airspace System (NAS) infrastructure by improving the management of NAS operational requirements and the NAS Operational Concept. ANG-C supports the development of the FAA's technology development portfolio through strategic planning, budget formulation, program execution, and program evaluation.

The imcumbent serve as a Branch Manager of the Division (ANG-C51). They will manage, direct and coordinate FAA activities and initiatives to transition the National Airspace System (NAS) into the Next Generation Air Transportation System. They will be responsible for providing an integrated cross-agency view of the initiatives, projects, systems, and procedures that arc critical to NextGen by ensuring appropriate integration occurs across and within FAA lines of business. Responsible for alignment of FAA research, technology development, demonstrations and acquisition programs to support NextGen Objectives, goals and commitments. Duties will include expert advice of NextGen Portfolio Management, knowledge of the FAA Concept and Requirements Definition Phase of the Acquisition Management (AMS). Incumbent supports the Director of the Portfolio Management and Technology Development and Manager of the Technology Development & Prototyping Division (ANG-C5) in providing expert level tracking and reporting of progress and in the development of both internal and external progress reports, such as the NextGen Segmented Implementation Plan (NSlP).

To qualify for this position at the K payband you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the FV-J or FG/GS-14. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.

Specialized Experience may include but is not limited to: Experience in developing, implementing and tracking NextGen aviation initiatives and activities to support a safer, more efficient National Airspace System (NAS).
