Job Description Meet our professionals CGI: A place to build an IT career Position Description CGI is actively seeking an IT Security and Network Monitoring Technician to support the network/systems monitoring of IT network and server services for various service units. This is a long term position and work will primarily take place at client facilities in the Washington DC Metropolitan area. Potentially remote during COVID. #CGIFederalJob Your future duties and responsibilities Network/Systems Monitoring and Management: The IT Security and Network Monitoring Technician shall apply expert working knowledge of IT systems and policies and continuous systems monitoring: oMonitoring servers, network components, and other Data Center components for potential problems and anomalies. oAssisting with the development of system architectures and project plans. oDeveloping and maintaining thorough documentation for the systems they support. oPerform systems design, implementation, and performance optimization of the NetCool/Tivoli Business Service Manager (TBSM) suite of applications in order to create system performance and availability dashboards for technology infrastructure components and critical applications. oProvide technical analysis of current network component configuration for completeness and best practice as it applies to the development of enterprise level and application specific performance and availability dashboards. oProvide initial system design and implementation documentation for the system element network management system as well as the enterprise level and application specific system performance and availability dashboards. Update documentation based on any "field-engineered" changes. oMaintain and update documentation for the NetCool/TBSM suite. All updates shall confirm to the process and include updates to the following documentation: Disaster recovery procedures User generated requirements High level and detailed designs Detailed project scheduled Tool transition document Standard operating procedures Daily health check oAssists with systems monitoring, notification, tracking, and status communication from problem detection through resolution. Integrating the output of existing monitoring tools into a single user interface provides for centralized notification functions, event correlation and status updates. oContinuous tracking and monitoring. This includes proactive steps such as checking log files, monitoring changing circumstances, analyzing repeating events, and fine-tuning threshold settings. Network and Security Systems Operations: The IT Security and Network Monitoring Technician shall apply an expert working knowledge of all IT security directives and policies for the reaccreditation of IT systems and continuous monitoring support in order to: oDeveloping and maintaining thorough documentation for the systems they support oAssisting with implementation and maintenance of security technologies and components as requested oAssisting with information security incident response as requested oProvide Program of Action and Milestone (POAM) remediation analysis and status reports for infrastructure systems oProvide written reports of best practice recommendations to support the enhancement of technical, administrative, and operational security controls for infrastructure systems oProvide a written report identifying best practice recommendations to support continuous monitoring efforts for infrastructure systems Required qualifications to be successful in this role US citizen Minimum 3 years experience in IT security and network monitoring Shall have the ability to effectively communicate both orally (in common English narration) and in writing (to include technical documentation). Shall have the ability to manage multiple projects, work under pressure and tight deadlines, work independently, and work in a team environment. Shall be proficient in Microsoft® Office with particular emphasis on Microsoft® Word®, Excel®, PowerPoint®, and Project®, and other applicable database and office automation products. Shall be able to obtain a favorable determination from the Background Investigation. Willingness to ask questions, find out information, seek understanding from others Cooperative attitude in a team environment Sufficient communication skills to create operational documentation and system diagrams Desired Skills: Experience with NetCool/Tivoli Business Service Manager (TBSM) suite of applications What you can expect from us Build your career with us.
