Responsibilities

Monitors operations of the range, normally during absence of the retail manager and/or assistant manager, and normally at night or on weekends. Responsible for the issue, receipt, and control of cash. Makes unscheduled cash counts. Prepares reports of significant occurrences during the shift. Makes and logs appointments for range use. Serve as an assigned key holder authority for range; may be required to open and/or close the facility at the beginning and/or ending of the day's business in the absence of the Supervisor.

Based on the incumbents in-depth knowledge of the product, assists customers, answering technical questions. Explains product features, benefits, and differences, to satisfy customer needs. Provides excellent customer service and assists customers with lane rentals, firearms rentals, and purchasing of ammunition, retail items, and memberships. Ensures items are properly marked.

May perform retail responsibilities include point of sales operations and merchandising (stocking, pricing, storing and sales). Accepts sales and operates cash register. Checks merchandise, rings sales on cash register, receives payments, makes change, bags or wraps merchandise and completes related sales records. Prepares written sales slips as appropriate. Verifies personal checks and credit cards. Responsible for assigned change fund. Handles each transaction efficiently and accurately. Assists in inventories, ensures proper accountability and security of assigned area(s). Advises supervisor of damages, out-of-stock and/or slow-moving merchandise.

Maintain retail shop with ammunition and related equipment rental. Ensures an adequate stock on the floor related to range accessories, targets, etc. Responsible for inventory of firearms and ammunition, ensuring proper handling, storage, accountability and compliance with all related security and storage regulations. Ensures all operating procedures are in accordance with installation Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and local and federal laws. Maintains communications with instructions of the installation range control agency to ensure safe operations. Serves as Range Safety Officer while on duty and may be scheduled exclusively as Range Safety Officer.

May perform necessary maintenance tasks involving firearms and/or shooting range equipment, such as: firearms cleaning and identifying the need for minor repairs, maintaining and repairing range target system, keeping the shooting bays in order, including lighting and baffles, painting and replacing plywood and any repairs that can be completed by the range staff. May perform the duties of an instructor if qualified.

Has keyholder responsibility: must be able to open and close, work weekends and holidays and receiving products. May require light custodial duties, light lifting of merchandise, stocking, setting planograms, price changes, inventory counts and corrections.

Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.

EVALUATIONS:

Qualifications

Minimum two year's experience in recreational shooting operations and safe handling of firearms and ammunition. Skill to demonstrate activities and use of related facility equipment. Skill to learn applicable MCCS policies and procedures. Experience in retail sales and/or retail customer service which include cash handling, stocking, display, sales, returns, special order, etc. Knowledge of business mathematics, cash handling procedures, and merchandising methods preferred. This is a mixed position where the incumbent must be able to lift and carry objects up to 45lbs independently and objects over 45lbs with assistance.

This is a "covered position" for the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment to the Gun Control Act for Department of the Navy civilian personnel. Due to contact with firearms, or ammunition in accomplishing work, DD Form 2760 certifying whether or not a "qualifying conviction" for a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence has occurred MUST be completed. The continuing obligation to notify the immediate supervisor of any qualifying conviction through completion of DD Form 2760 is REQUIRED.
