MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education
  • A high school diploma or GED

Experience
  • One (1) year of administrative experience and advanced knowledge of a Police Communications center. Must have technical experience to utilize portableradios and understand all radio functions and capabilities of different series radios. Must have technical experience loading and updating CJIS applications to MTPD workstations.

Certification/Licensure
  • Must complete NICE call recording system training within three (3) months of hire.
  • Within three (3) months of hiring, must attend Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) training, pass the course and maintain certifications in the following jurisdictions the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia.

Preferred
  • Radio training or experience working with portable police radios; knowledge of police department terminology,

Mission Essential Designation

In accordance with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority's Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) this job has been identified as critical to mission essential functions. Incumbents in this role may be required to report to or continue to work in the event of authorized office closings or servere weather, natural disaster, fire, operational emergencies or related events.

SUMMARY

The Police Communications Clerk provides administrative support to the Police Communications manager. The incumbent maintains Police Communications records, conducting research, and complies data. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Maintains records filing system and/or databases used to manage, access, and preserve electronic and paper records of CD and building activities.
  • Assists the building manager with follow-ups to maintenance tickets for the building issues and ensures that work is completed timely and action items are being resolved.
  • Assists in providing accurate and clear information to MTPD officials and other WMATA Departments by conducting thorough research of informational requests.
  • Maintains radio inventory database of all MTPD portable and vehicle radio assets.
  • Assists with Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) audits, maintains CJIS training documents, CJIS validations, reports, database and CJIS security awareness training records for the Department.
  • Assists Department CJIS Terminal Agency Coordinator (TAC) with CJIS software installations and updates on CD and Department terminals.
  • Keeps accurate and updated records of radio malfunctions to include: specific locations, exact problem, and corrective actions being taken by WMATA radio maintenance personnel.
  • Researches new technology for the unit and/or department and work with vendors to set up demos for unit supervisors and managers.

OTHER FUNCTIONS
  • Assists in Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement by generating monthly percentages of calls, researching and compiling computer aided dispatch printouts and researching events; researches, compiles, and reproduces audio recordings for internal investigations, Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests and court issued subpoenas.
