Responsibilities

Responsibilities:
Serves as a district Litigation Support Specialist responsible for providing technical and analytical assistance involving Litigation Support (LS) and other Information Technology (IT) specialty areas which support the information management needs of the United States Attorney's Office (USAO). The USAO IT environment includes personal computers, routers, switches, bridges, a wide area network and local area network, operating systems, case management systems and litigation support operations. Performs litigation support tasks associated with day-to-day operation of the USAO LS systems. These duties include a variety of IT support to meet USAO information needs utilizing network hardware and software capabilities, including specialty litigation support software. Specifically, assignments encompass: Litigation Support Services, eDiscovery Support, LS Systems Administration, Systems Security, and Customer Support.

Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, you must meet either the requirements specified in the section titled Education OR the requirements specified in the section titled Experience.

Basic Requirements:

Education:
All academic degrees and coursework must be from an accredited or pre-accredited institution. Undergraduate or Graduate Education: must be in one of the following fields: computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.

GS-09: Master's degree or equivalent graduate degree; or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree.

GS-11: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree.

NOTE: If you are using education to qualify, you MUST provide transcripts to receive consideration.

OR

Experience:
You must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the competencies listed below:GS-09 and GS-11

Specialized Experience:

GS-09: Specialized Experience:
One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level in Federal service. Qualifying experience performing the following types of duties: assessing service and information requirements needed to complete automated litigation support (ALS) projects. This would include knowledge of database creation and utilization (using programs such as Eclipse SE and desktop, Law Pre-Discovery, Relativity, IPRO, TrialDirector, TimeMap and CaseMap); electronic data acquisition and processing; pre-trial and trial support, including courtroom presentation services.

GS-11: Specialized Experience: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level in Federal service. Qualifying experience involved independently performing the following types of duties: assessing service and information requirements needed to complete automated litigation support (ALS) projects as well as making recommendations. This would include knowledge of database creation and utilization (using programs such as Eclipse SE and desktop, Law Pre-Discovery, Relativity, IPRO, TrialDirector, TimeMap and CaseMap); electronic data acquisition and processing; pre-trial and trial support, including courtroom presentation services.

Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies. If your agency has notified you in writing that you are a displaced employee eligible for ICTAP consideration, you may receive selection priority if: 1) this vacancy is within your ICTAP eligibility; 2) you apply under the instructions in the announcement; and 3) you are found well-qualified for this vacancy.
