Summary

Unpaid internships with DFC are offered year round in Washington, D.C., and can last from 12 weeks to 12 months. Duties vary based on the department and/or office in which the intern is placed. DFC's Internship Program offers valuable experience that contributes to educational and professional growth, and may be applied in any future employment endeavor, including federal, state and local governments or in the private sector.

Responsibilities

The Office of the Chief Executive (OCE) provides strategic leadership to the agency and represents the agency to members of Congress and other Administration senior and elected officials.

Interns will assist the staff of the OCE with a broad range of projects, including the production and maintenance of DFC promotional materials, preparation of briefing materials and talking points for the Chief Executive Officer and senior level staff, research projects, and business development.

  • Must be currently enrolled or have been accepted for enrollment (at least part-time) in an accredited college or university
  • Must be suitable for Federal employment, determined by background investigation
  • Selective Service registration required for male applicants, unless exempt


Qualifications

Applicants must be an enrolled senior in high school or at least part-time in an accredited college or university. Additionally, Interns must:
- Have a background in and knowledge of international development and foreign affairs, international business, or finance;
- Possess strong research skills and good presentation and inter-personal skills;
- Demonstrate excellent written communication skills, with an academic or professional background in journalism and/or communications a plus;
- Be able to analyze data and industry trends;
- Demonstrate proficiency in PowerPoint, MS Word, and Excel.
- Interns also must demonstrate a high degree of initiative, be comfortable working in a fast-paced professional environment, and be able to work independently.
- Experience writing talking points and speeches is ideal.

Education

Applicants must be an enrolled senior in high school or at least part-time in an accredited college or university.
