Summary

This position is located in the Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards (NMSS), Division of Rulemaking, Environmental, and Financial Support (REFS). The supervisor is Cindy Bladey. This position is in the Bargaining Unit. This position is not subject to Confidential Financial Disclosure reporting requirements. This position is subject to the security ownership restriction reporting requirements.

Responsibilities

As a Cost Analyst, you will perform benefit-cost analyses for proposed regulatory changes, report the results of analyses and assessments of alternatives, and provide expert advice and guidance on economic analyses. Duties include but are not limited to: Develops benefit-cost analyses for proposed regulatory changes using agency guidance. Assesses the impact of the proposed and alternative actions. Prepares reports of analyses and the results of these evaluations with assessment of the accuracy of the estimates. Work products will reflect risk insights and a risk-informed and performance-based philosophy, as appropriate.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level (13) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is defined as experience that demonstrates the knowledge of regulatory cost analysis acquired through work experience and responsible technical positions in nuclear and allied industries with particular emphasis in the areas of safety sufficient to assist in the development, formulation, and evaluation of new approaches to technical programmatic problems.

Education

Basic Requirements:
  • Degree: Degree: finance, economics, engineering, or physical science, that included at least 21 semester hours in economics, statistics, accounting, or mathematics.

  • OR
  • Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
