Data Center Engineer Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD Clearance: Secret On-Call: After hours on-call required Schedule: 0800 1600 (M-F) Travel: Minimal Position Overview: The Data Center Engineer is responsible for managing and monitoring all installed systems and infrastructure. Installing, configuring, testing and maintaining operating systems, application software and system management tools. Ensuring the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability. Responsibilities: Managing and monitoring all installed systems and infrastructure Installing, configuring, testing and maintaining operating systems, application software and system management tools Ensuring the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks Participate in the design of information and operational support systems Provide 2nd and 3rd level support Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution Required Skills and Qualifications: Security Clearance: Secret Minimum 1+ years of experience as a Systems Engineer 5+ years of experience with VMware vCenter and VMware ESXi Must be able to work in a fast-paced work environment and ability to work alone. Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task; attention to detail; troubleshooting experience. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to create documentation on processes and procedures Required to have an active Security+ CE certification Required to achieve Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate within 6 months of hire. Proven working experience in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Windows / Linux based environments.
