Property Accountant - Helping Provide Affordable Housing! About the Company and Opportunity: * Our client was established in the 1970s to better respond to the Countys need for affordable housing. They are located in Beautiful Kensington, MD! * Due to growth, they are hiring a Property Accountant to cover for a vacancy for an Accounting Supervisor, but for now they just want to have someone do the accounting work until they find a supervisor. The Accountant II will not be supervising. * This position is responsible for preparing and analyzing property financial statements, budget reports, and handling multiple ledgers and tasks, reconciling multiple cash accounts, attending property management meetings, preparing information for auditors and working with auditors during financial statement and compliance audits, preparing regulatory reports and other tasks. * The leadership team is dedicated to employee success. Job Requirements Overview of the Property Accountant role: * Preparing and analyzing property financial statements, budget reports, and handling multiple ledgers and tasks, * Reconciling multiple cash accounts, attending property management meetings, preparing information for auditors and working with auditors during financial statement and compliance audits, * Preparing regulatory reports and other tasks. Preferred Qualifications for the Property Accountant: * Recent Property Accounting experience (No flexibility on this requirement) * Minimum of 3 years of experience as an accountant. * Knowledge of GAAP. * Knowledge of or ability to acquire knowledge of governmental laws, rules and regulations governing accounting activities * Experience working with spreadsheets, automated accounting systems, Word and Excel is required. * Must have the ability to handle multiple tasks with competing deadlines. * Ability to organize, analyze and interpret financial data to solve accounting problems. * Good oral and written communication skills * Recent Yardi experience a huge plus * Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or related degree
