The Arc Carroll County has openings for Special Needs Certified School Bus Drivers. This is a part-time, 10-month position. The Arc offers health insurance and other benefits for drivers working at least 25 hrs. per week.As a school bus driver, you will transport special needs children to and from school, conduct pre-trip inspections of vehicle, maintain trip reports, and adhere to all safety rules and regulations. CDL with passenger, airbrake, and school bus endorsements required; will train if necessary. All school buses have an Assistant who provides support and supervision to the students. Applicants much also meet requirements of Carroll County Board of Education.QUALIFICATIONS:* Must possess a valid driver's license for at least five years* Desire to work with people with disabilities* Driving record must be in good standing; must not have more than two (2) current points* Must possess or acquire a Commercial Driver's License, with appropriate endorsements* Must meet physical requirements annually for school bus drivers, as dictated by the Carroll County Public School System and the State of Maryland* Must meet all requirements established by the Carroll County Public School System and the State of MarylandPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:* Ability to lift/manipulate at least 50 lbs. frequently, with ability to lift/manipulate in excess of 100 lbs. occasionally* Ability to withstand prolonged periods of sitting and frequent bending, stooping, reaching, pulling and pushing required; including lifting a wheelchair and repositioning an individual* Ability to transfer individual from a wheelchair to bus. Ability to physically secure individual in a wheelchair to the bus with tie-downs* Ability to participate in evacuation drills, including jumping out of the back of a bus then assisting children to exit
